Welcome to NYEs Building Supplies. We are extremely proud of our company and the service we provide to all our customers.

NYEs Building Supplies started off as D.W.Nye Builders Merchant in 1985 but updated its name in 2019. We are a family owned and run building supply company, supplying competitively priced building, landscaping and timber materials locally to the Surrey and Sussex areas and nationally to the rest of the UK. We are part of the Covers Timber & Builders Merchants Group.

Established in 1985, we have always kept one thing as our highest priority which is the customer and ensuring that all of our customers, no matter their size or experience, receive the highest level of service at all times, whether this means a 24hr delivery service, keeping huge stock and wise product ranges or just making sure you feel welcome when you visit us or talk to us.

We operate out of Kingsfold in West Sussex from a 6-acre depot which is situated between Horsham and Dorking on the A24. With huge displays, ample parking and easy ways to browse our product range, we make sure your experience at NYEs Building Supplies always stands out. We also have a branch in Billingshurst.

Our story

Born in 1958, David Nye grew up in Kingsfold on a farm with 4 brothers. They were well known for tinkering, fixing and building cars to race around fields. When David was old enough to drive he bought himself a van and started delivering nut and bolts up and down the country. This was his first job and first company. He then moved into the haulage industry, first delivering into London for bookshops and other retail stores. After a period of time, he moved into international freight. This would stretch from refrigerated lorries to southern Italy to motor cargo to the middle east, where he became very well known for making things happen and fast.

Unfortunately the downturn of the 80s came and haulage wasn't as secure as it had been, so David looked at his local area and started to think where he could turn his expertise. He came up with delivering building materials and aggregates to local builders and contractors. This is when D.W.Nye Ltd started. D.W.Nye Builders Merchant quickly became very popular, and it was all down to the speed and level of service he provided.

Once David had deliveries down to a tee, he moved onto the stock holding side of the business, which is where he laid the foundations of the present business. He recognised the need for builders was in large stock holdings with a wide variety, always adapting, always making sure he had everything the customers needed.

Over the years D.W.Nye Builders Merchant (now known as NYEs Building Supplies) became very well known for the range of brick held in stock, always having the local buildings brick matches ready for any extensions in the area.

In the early 00’s sandstone caught on in the UK. Imported from India, NYEs Building Supplies became one of the first to stock and distribute this natural product that is so suitable for English gardens. With its natural look and versatility it became extremely popular, and is still today a widely used product for landscapers and builders.

Now NYEs Building Supplies has made even more advances in porcelain paving, with its hard face and wide range of colours and styles. The company has also moved into a wider range of insulation products, from Rockwool to Dritherm, with PIR insulation board from Mannok (formerly QUINN) and foil insulation from YBS. We also now stock Stonemarket landscaping products and artificial grass to complete all your landscaping needs.

In late 2023 NYEs Building Supplies was acquired by David Cover & Son Ltd, a large regional timber and building materials company based in Chichester.

Service is and will always be NYEs Building Supplies’ main focus. We aim to provide the best service to all our customers: trade, DIY or just general buyers. We believe that this is what the customer deserves every time, all the time.
