Decktape Deck Frame Sealing Tape - 82mm x 20m

MPN: WS50PRO20BLK
Part code: WS82PRO20BLK

DeckTape™ completely protects and seal your new or existing deck frame. Protecting from water rot, moisture rot and frame weathering.

SOLVING PROBLEMS – Deck Frame Weathering

Exposure to the elements outdoors can result in siginificant deck frame weathering. The most common area for this damage to occur is where the deckboards come in contact with the deck substructure. Protect your deck substructure with Walther Strong DeckTape.

WHAT IS DECKTAPE?

DeckTape™ is a non-butyl self-sealing tape. Manufactured from a massively strong polymer acrylic adhesive, which gives a completely water-proof and weather seal.

With a permanent adhesive bond for 50 years and a 25 year guarentee, this massively adds to the life of your deck frame. Tested with all timber treatments.

Suitable to be used with both traditional timber decking and also the more advanced composite decking. DeckTape will protect any timber decking sub structure. When using a composite deck board, more of the moisture will absorb into the substructure as it will just drain off the deck boards. Higher amounts of moisture will mean that the frame will actually rot faster when not sealed properly.

WHY Walther Strong DeckTape™?

DeckTape is a non-butyl tape.

Non-Butyl tapes are particularly suitable for this application as they are completely UV stable and keep their integrity for longer. This means that they have many advantages over both butyl and ashphalt tapes.

In addition to this, it is stable from -40C to +93C with no cracking, peeling or strength loss.

WHERE is decktape applied?

Joist Protection

By simply applying a strip of DeckTape™ along the top of the joists as a ‘cap’ (rather than a wrap) protects the timber as it creats a strong seal from any moisture. 50mm DeckTape works particularly well on standardised 2 inch timber as it acts as a ‘cap’ (and slightly overlaps the edge of the timber) rather than a wrap. This prevents any moisture sitting on these flat surfaces and slowly rotting away the timber.

DeckTape™ can be applied to joists in advance to the deck boards being fitted – It doesn’t deteriorate or affect the benefits & qualities that the tape brings to the deck.

Joist Hanger Protection

Traditionally the coating on the metal would have slowly corroded away the metal and brought weakness in. However, just by simply applying a layer of DeckTape™ this prevents the breaking down of the treatments and the subframe of your deck maintains its integrity.

Posts

Use DeckTape on timber posts to create a water and moisture-tight seal. Particularly useful for fence posts and all other timber that has contact with the ground.

Cut Ends

Generally this is a particularly weak spot for the moisture to start rotting the timber as there will not be any treatment on this part of the timber as it has been cut to size. By using one layer of DeckTape it will completely seal this off from all moisture and water-rotting or weathering.

Around fasteners

Apply a layer of DeckTape between the galvanised fixings and treated timber prevents the fixing from corroding.

Benefits of using decktape

  • watertight
  • air & smoke tight
  • easy release
  • stickiness
  • UV stable
  • Self-sealing

Delivery and Collection Information

Local Delivery:
Our main depot is in Kingsfold, near Horsham on the Surrey and Sussex border. The postcode is RH12 3SD. We operate a local delivery service from this single depot. Our catchment range for local deliveries is an average of 25 miles.

If a product has a ‘Local Delivery’ tick we are able to deliver this with our own lorries most of the time. Sometimes we will use external hauliers.

Deliveries will be made to kerbside only to the nearest safest point to the delivery address and off loaded onto firm ground. If the driver is requested to leave the highway and enter the property or site, any damage which may be caused to yours or the local authority's property (such as footpaths and manhole covers), will be your or your agents' responsibility, together with the cost of any repairs or replacement items. Entering properties or crane off loading over walls, hedges and fences will be made at our drivers discretion unless previously arranged with the transport office.

We will endeavour to deliver on the day specified, but cannot be held responsible should delays occur due to circumstances beyond our control. Please try and avoid arranging for tradesmen to begin work before the materials have arrived as D W Nye Ltd will not be held liable for any costs incurred as a result of not meeting a delivery date.

National Delivery:
Many of our products can be sent anywhere in the country, either by post or by a haulier. This means the product will either come from ourselves or it will come from a 3rd party stockist. With most haulier deliveries this will be either in a van or in a box lorry with a pump truck. They will not be able to deliver with a crane offload lorry. If you have any special delivery requirements please let us know.

Collection from Store:
These items are expected to be in stock most of the time (sometimes lead times do get extended and we are unable to have a 100% stock holding 100% of the time). You will need your order number and the card you used to pay online.

We have a range of machinery on site to load your materials onto your vehicle whether it be loose or bulk bagged aggregates, part or full pallets of bricks or blocks and if you are in a hurry please ring in advance and we can prepare your order to save you time when collecting.

Bulky Item:
Some items in construction and landscaping are not always easy to handle and need either assistance or a crane to load/unload the materials. We have tried to make sure this is clear when ordering.
