We had a very NYEs day!

Saturday 18th May saw us host a family fun day to celebrate the launch of our new NYEs branding and expanded site. Going by the name of ‘Have a NYEs day’, the event attracted over 1,000 people, and featured an overwhelming array of free activities and attractions, as well as a hugely successful fundraiser for one of our local charities. Even the weather behaved itself, topping off a fantastic day for visitors both little and large.

1st Shipley Scout Group was there to welcome guests to our Kingsfold depot, where they were greeted by the impressive sight of our new 1000m2 warehouse, and the enticing smell of fresh pies, burgers and hot dogs. The delicious local fare was supplemented by refreshing beverages, including NYEs branded beer from the Surrey Hills Brewery, and Cabin Pressure gin.

Children were spoilt for choice by a range of fun activities, from a sand pit to face painting and glitter tattoos, and were even treated to a special appearance by the most famous tradesman of all, Bob the Builder! As if that wasn’t enough, the kids got to try a spot of construction work thanks to a fleet of mini-diggers provided by Diggerland theme park.

Live music from a host of acts accompanied the day’s events, which unfolded in a warm and relaxed community atmosphere. Continuing our theme of supporting local charities, Aaron Frogley and his son Connor were on hand to represent the Rainy Day Trust, selling raffle tickets for some fantastic prizes, including family days out, power tools and restaurant vouchers. The generosity of guests ensured the raffle was a huge success, resulting in an impressive total of £794, with the money going towards supporting tradespeople and their families in times of need.

Thanks to everyone who pitched in on the day, the event was a big hit. We’d like to thank all the suppliers who kindly manned stalls and entertained us, including ManicMundays, Diggerland, Cabin Pressure Spirits, 1st Shipley Scout Group, Busydays, Alpha Bouncy Castles, Tempus Training CSCS Card, Rainbow Productions and the Rainy Day Trust.
