NYEs doubles its local charity grant

NYEs Building Supplies doubles charity grant as it launches 2020 campaign

NYEs Building Supplies has announced it is doubling the funding amount awarded to local charities and community groups for its 2020 ‘Proud to be Local’ campaign.

Proud to be Local, which has been running for two years, gives away £500, four times per year, to local groups and charitable endeavours that have been nominated by the public. 2019’s winners included Trafalgar Infant School, 1st Roffey Scout Group, Girlguiding Horsham and Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee School.

For 2020, NYEs Building Supplies is increasing the amount to £1,000 per charity, and the first three charities to be nominated by our customers are:

The HOPE Charity Project, Findon. HOPE has been set up to help families in Sussex and surrounding areas struggling to support their children who are suffering from mental health issues. The charity offers compassion and comfort to the children, their parents and siblings through counselling, animal therapy, creative groups and parental support.

Ten Little Toes Baby Bank, Cowfold. Ten Little Toes supports those in financial difficulties to bring up and support their babies and young children by providing essential equipment and clothing. The charity runs four baby banks for drop off and collection at Cowfold, Crawley, Worthing and Broadbridge Heath.

Upon Butterfly Wings, Crawley. Upon Butterfly Wings provides comfort and a small sense of ‘normality’ to bereaved parents who have suffered the loss of their baby. Since the charity was set up in October 2011, it has donated thousands of knitted, crocheted and sewn burial clothing, blankets, cribs and teddies.

Votes can be made by putting a token into the box at our store, or by emailing proudtobelocal@dwnye.co.uk. The group with the most votes wins. Votes will close on Sunday 15th March 2020.

Rex Nye, Managing Director of NYEs Building Supplies, said:

"It has been an absolute pleasure to help fund a variety of local charities and community groups over the past two years. The work being done by these worthy causes doesn’t go unnoticed and we want to make even more of a mark in 2020 to highlight their contributions and reward their commitment to making a difference to our community."
