Kat’s been baking! Enter our Christmas competition and win a luxury hamper worth £75

It’s fair to say we’re getting into the festive spirit here at our Kingsfold depot. Not only are we digging out the Christmas jumpers, we’ve also launched a seasonal competition to raise money for our chosen charity, Born Free.

Our ‘Guess how many sweets are hidden inside the Gingerbread House’ competition will run from Monday 4th December to Friday 22nd December.

It’s all been made possible thanks to talented artist and baker Kat Giannini – partner of our managing director Rex Nye. Kat created not just the house, but a D.W. Nye gingerbread pick-up truck filled to the brim with sweets. The ingredients she used included 2kg flour, 800g butter, 560g of syrup and honey and 16 teaspoons of ginger. The house and truck took four-and-a-half hours to bake and a further day to decorate. Kat, a place on the Bake Off surely awaits!

Now it’s over to you, our valued customers. Simply call into the depot and guess the total number of sweets hidden inside the gingerbread house and truck. There’s a suggested donation of £1 per entry, which will go to Horsham-based animal charity Born Free. The person with the best estimate will win a Luscious Hamper courtesy of Cocoa Loco at Swan Walk. The delicious contents of the hamper include an array of scrummy handmade chocolates worth £75.

Ginger Bread House

Here’s a final word from Kat:

"Building my gingerbread grand design was certainly a labour of love, but unlike conventional building I was in a nice warm kitchen rather than shivering away in the cold outdoors. Thankfully I didn’t encounter any delays and required only one piece of protective equipment - a pair of oven gloves!

“I am really pleased with the final result. I hope everyone else loves it as much as I do and has a go at guessing and helping to raise money for a worthy cause. I can’t give you any real hints as to how many sweets there might be, but let’s just say Santa is feeling generous this year!”

We look forward to receiving your entries!
