4 Fast 4 Charity

UPDATE: We did it! We've raised our target of £2,000. Actually, you did it. Thanks to all our friends and supporters. But please don't stop - every £ counts for these charities. We're going to drive like Hell, please help us give them more.

What's the story?
Imagine the scene: four strapping examples of masculinity packed into a souped-up speed machine, the driver with his foot to the floor, the engine roaring like an angry beast, clouds of dust billowing from the back of the vehicle as it surges towards the setting sun on the horizon. No, it’s not the latest instalment in the Fast and Furious franchise, but rather a somewhat exaggerated vision of our team’s forthcoming experience of this year’s Pavestone Rally.

From the 5th to the 8th of September, the highways and byways of Western Europe will play host to a gruelling four-day rally encompassing hundreds of miles of driving, all in the name of charity, and four enterprising employees from NYEs will be among the wacky racers taking up the challenge.

Organised by natural stone and hard landscaping company Pavestone, The Pavestone Rally requires entrants to purchase a roadworthy car for no more than £500, decorate it, and drive from Reims in Northern France to Lake Como in Italy, via Stuttgart, Salzburg and Venice. Along the way the teams will need to complete various challenges, and did we mention they’ll be doing it all in fancy dress?

Racing under the moniker of the ‘NYEtriders’, our team comprises NYEs employees Paul Arnold, Robert Karoly, Nick Canning and Dan Alstrom, whose combined experience of rally events consists of the time that Paul spent playing a Colin McRae arcade game at Watford Gap services. But what they lack in professional racing experience, the lads make up for with sheer enthusiasm and a strong desire to do their best for a worthy cause.

The team will be raising funds for three charities: the Rainy Day Trust, Variety, and the Teenage Cancer Trust.

NYEtriders team spokesperson Nick Canning said:
“We’re really looking forward to taking part in the rally and are busily preparing our vehicle for the trip. I’m sure there will be plenty of trials, tribulations and adventures along the way. We hope as many people as possible will support us and help us raise funds for three extremely worthy causes.”
